L1: Setting the stage and focus

Coming soon - In the first stakeholder workshop at local level, specific areas with land degradation problems and potential SLM solutions are identified together with relevant stakeholders (including land users) at the local level. Goals and visions of all stakeholders are set and exisitng strategies, policies and programmes relevant for SLM mainstreaming and scaling out discussed.

L2: Compilation & analysis of local / landscape level knowledge base

L2a: Map Land Use/Land Management Systems subdivided into administrative units and/or watersheds/landscapes

L2b: Map LD & SLM per administrative unit and/or watershed/landscape, assess LD & SLM data

The LADA-WOCAT Mapping Questionnaire (QM) is used to map land degradation and SLM per administrative unit and/or watershed/landscape.

L2c: Analyse and visualize LD&SLM data and identify 'hot regions' and 'green regions'

L2d: Document and analyse promising SLM Technologies and Approaches

An analysis and synthesis of 4.2a-d is taking place through an expert meeting, facilitated by the moderator/facilitating institution of the decision support process.

L3: Evaluation, negotiation and selection

Coming soon - In the second stakeholder workshop priority Land Use Systems/Land Management Systems  for intervention as well as Technologies and Approaches are evaluated and selected, opportunities and bottlenecks for SLM implementation are identified and  relevant indicators for M&E of LD and SLM (identified at the national level)  discussed.
